SIMPLIFIED KLINGON:

Dialects of the Klingon language vary in the universe. Simplified Klingon is based off of a primitive dialect common to this region.

There are only 4 difficult letters to pronounce. They are all consonants – “gh”, “H”, “Q”, & “tlh”.

The two hardest sounds are “gh” & “H”, and will be demonstrated individually, then together.

“gh” – similar to German ch (bach) with a hard G

“H” – cross between cat hiss and gh, higher on tongue

“gh” & “H” difference

q – hard k (Not difficult, but need to know in order to pronounce “Q”)

“Q” – Klingon q & H put together

“H” & “Q” difference

tlh – th with a soft “t”

S – sounds like SH (Not difficult, but humans tend to mispronounce).

The vowels are straight forward – a, e, I, o, u (Aw, Eh, Ih, Oh, Ew).

a = as in claw

e = as in death

I = as in ship (Always capital)

o = as in oath

u = as in true

The remaining consonants are as they sound in English, and are listed below:

b – as in battle

ch – as in charge

D – as in dagger (Always capital)

j – as in jugular

L – as in Launch (We will capitalize, to not confuse with I)

m – as in military

q – K as in kill (NEVER as kw)

r – as in raid (Can be rolled)

S – SH as in shoot (Always Capital)
